By Jude Miller

We think too much,

Look but don't see,

Touch without feeling.

Speak without thinking,

Hear without listening,

While leaving the feelings internal.

Hearts can hurt when something breaks,

While having the capacity to mend,

To extend their life force,

Their true emotion,

Their beat,

Their warmth

Their empathy, to others,

As well as to self.

If we can stop in the still,

Listen, learn, from its wisdom,

Reflect onto those the good that the heart sees.

That the heart hears, feels…

Then our time here is not a wasteland

To run from

But a potential,

To intentionally walk toward.
