Poem of the week: Faceless Or, Broken but not dead

Good morning and welcome to another Poem of the Week! Today’s is Faceless Or, Broken but not dead by Sinead McGuigan, an Irish poet whose work you can find on Amazon, here is a link to her latest collection https://a.co/d/3Bd8eGU

I’ve only recently “met” Sinead through Facebook but already I’m a big fan of her work, and knew the moment I saw this poem that it needed to be shared! Thank you Sinead for the permission to use the poem.

Faceless Or, Broken but not dead

I am faceless now
Betrayed and blind
Broken but not dead
Speechless with sounds
Stabbed in the chest
Left for dead
Drip
Drip
Drip
The blood seeping slowly from my veins
Drop by drop
The sound of lost love
Echo
Echo
Echo

I walked in a haze
Questions made to feel unwarranted
Made to feel mistaken
I will write my pain
I will remain in the centre of
Places I never wanted to know
I am adjusting metaphors to survive
Broken but not dead
