On Hope

by Ron Whitehead

Hope can be

the longest walk

down a vaguely known

dangerously jagged crooked path

into an apparently impenetrable fog

deliberately determinedly

taking one step at a time towards

an unseeable lighthouse

that you stubbornly know

is somewhere there.
