November Child: False Image

Good morning, today I will be sharing my poem False Image from my newly released collection November Child. I read this at the open Mic in Scottsburg, October 26th.

False Image

I keep hoping

One day

I’ll wake

To find

The person in the mirror

Staring back at me

Is me

And not a disguise

This false image

I so easily

Hide behind

Feeling like

A chameleon

Always changing

Rearranging

Into what

Someone else wants

Staring at the face

Of someone

I never was

And never wanted

This false image

Yet, here I am

Still pretending

All for the sake

Of pleasing others
